"American Panorama is a historical atlas of the United States for the twenty-first century. It combines cutting-edge research with innovative interactive mapping techniques, designed to appeal to anyone with an interest in American history or a love of maps.

Since there's a limit to how many actual maps are available, only disciplines like history and sociology might be able to use this site as a resource for foundational knowledge.

Both critical and practical thinking could be tapped into easily; creative thinking might depend on the instructor and what types of assignments he or she decides to implement with the maps.

Connections could easily be drawn for both inside and outside the classroom. Many of the maps presented have socio-political/socio-economic implications.

With some encouragement students could learn to apply the information presented to themselves and others.

Provides foundational knowledge for anatomy students though the use of Flash games. The games aid helping students memorize the various parts of the body.

Creating memory games of the such is a technique used for studying.

It allows individuals to work with a cloud-based version of the programming IDE with one of their prototyping boards. This resource site features many tutorials and instructions on how to work with electronics. It reviews foundational principles in the area.

All three skill areas are tapped, as the site challenges students to create, decide, and analyze when making choices about electronics.

The entire site can be used to reference key concepts of programming, electronics, and engineering.

Students should gain an appreciation for the various fields that come together in order to create various electronic products.

Students can use the website/tool to learn how to be self-directed in learning about small electronics and prototyping.

As a way to show current examples of what people are working on in the field, Artstation does quite a bit. It would not be too difficult for an instructor to connect foundational principles with current, real-world examples.

When used creatively, this site can be used to tap into all three thinking areas.

In an art class, connections can be made to ideas and concepts within and outside of it.

The site could potentially be used as a way to network with other artists in the field.

Students should learn what it is that this particular industry is looking for. It is important that the care about how to present their work in a digital space.

Provides foundational knowledge for anatomy students. The platform allows the sharing of specific notes on the actual 3D body. As a presentation and discovery tool, it is very powerful.

Depending on how the instructor utilizes the tool, students can engage in all three thinking areas.

Connections to other related fields seems highly feasible.

Students should learn how to appreciate certain aspects of the human body as well as gain a better understanding of how disease affects it.

Again, this is a modern tool for learning and memorizing the parts of the body. This, in and of itself, allows students to modernize their techniques for acquiring and interacting with information and knowledge.

This particular tool lends itself towards encouraging creative thinking.

Creating infographics, especially for a digital space, is fundamental to modern forms of communication. Connections among ideas within and outside of the course, among the information and ideas, and among material in social, personal, and work areas can easily be made.

Using creation tools such as these can help students understand important elements in the design process when communicating towards an online and global audience.

When curated and guided by an instructor, students have the potential to tap into all three areas of thinking.

Students will be challenged to perform in all three areas of thinking when trying to come up with solutions for potential programs

Like Popplet, instructors can create assignments where students have to create visual maps to organize ideas and thoughts. Since Coggle is collaborative, instructors can task students with creating more complex mind maps where students can tackle a branch of the overall structure, or instructors could have students simply brainstorm together.

These videos cover such a wide range of disciplines and serve to provide foundational knowledge directly. This site is a great resource for those looking for supplementary material.

The videos themselves vary as widely as their topics. Overall, all three areas of thinking can be touched upon.

Connections can easily be made within the course and outside of it. Connections to other areas, such as to the students' personal, social, or work lives could be made on their own, but it is suggested that the instructor facilitate them.

Since the site covers such a wide array of disciplines, particular disciplines—for instance, such as those in government or even ecology—could help to encourage connections between themselves and others.

Again, this depends on the particular disciplines being targeted.

Since the apps can vary greatly in their use and application, all three areas of thinking can be targeted.

These tools can easily be incorporated into any classroom, and in fact, some of them already are.

Students can expect to learn about what general areas interest them.

In using this tool, the instructor should encourage students to become more interested in the world at large and to realize their own interests with regards to current events.

Flipboard is a more simple tool. It helps students to learn how to start using tech tools in order to organize information.

Flipboard does have embeddable features; however, they don't function very well across different systems. The easiest way to use Flipboard is to have students subscribe to custom article collections.

Instructors can build custom collection of articles to share with their students on a particular subject area (students automatically receive updates to the articles from the instructor).

At the very least, this program helps students to learn how to use modern tools when interacting with mathematics. It is useful as a visualizer and as a modern way to interface mathematics with technology: e.g., assignment submissions, creation of interactive models, and participation with online communities in the subject area.

Students should learn about the importance of managing a project at it's various stages of conception.

Version control is a very important aspect of being able to deploying and maintaining programming. This website alone introduces students to those programming principles.

Goobric can be used to provide more detailed feedback to students with regards to their work. This, in turn, can help students to develop guided and objective-driven skills when learning.

These type of tools and applications lend themselves naturally towards critical thinking because of a limitation in what the tool can actually do.

This tool allows for various connections among ideas within particular courses and those outside of it. It also allows for a lot of potential reflection on the students part within his or her own life.

Students should learn to have a greater appreciation for the scale of certain areas of the world in relation to themselves.

Demonstrates the use of modern tools to understand foundational concepts for many fields of study.

One of the most underutilized features of Google Earth is its ability to create interactive field trips. Instructors can program set paths that students can then open and explore on their own. Of course, guided instructions with suggested connections to learning and theory enhance the learning experience for the student exponentially.

Instructors can create virtual field trips that students can then immerse themselves in while studying a particular geographical area.

Quick and easy to use website for polling students across distances. Students can respond to polls using any device, even a flip phone. Google forms has the added advantage of being completely free to use.

If the class is focused on research and data collection, then an argument could be made in using the tool to teach students these topics.

Again, it all depends on how the tool is used. Critical thinking could be targeted if students are asked to analyze poll data in order to make more informed choices.

Instructor could potentially ask student to compare poll data to that of their classes or even to challenge prior knowledge.

If students create their own polls to use with other classmates or people in general, they could learn about other points of view.

An argument can be made as to constructing questions for polls. It all depends on how the instructor uses the tool in the class.

It would be up to the instructor to make the connections between the contents of each ebook and his/her class.

This would entirely depend on the subject matter of the class and the choice of ebook for the class. The instructor would be able to encourage this learning dimension based on both and on his/her instruction.

Using ebooks can help students foster skills in interacting with modern forms of content tools. In instances where a student must perform research, being able to search the entire contents of a book quickly, save digital bookmarks, and digitally highlight important quotes becomes an invaluable asset.

Notable advantages to using this particular suite is that it allows for multiple editors to work on the same document at the same, serving as a powerful collaboration tool for both students and instructors.

With the suites, there are actual classes in which using such software is part of the curriculum for those disciplines.

All three areas of thinking are tapped into, especially when students are asked to work together on the same document. This allows students to problem solve, create, and analyze.

Because the goal of using these tools is to stress collaboration, it becomes easy to connect to ideas inside the classroom and outside of it.

The instructor should encourage students to practice their collaborative skills using modern tools.

The three online suites provide students with the greatest foundation for learning how to collaborate in a distanced educational environment (i.e., online or hybrid).

Assignments can be shared directly within the Google ecosystem. There are some options to provide direct links to documents, which can be used within an LMS.

One of the greatest uses of the Google suite is to establish collaborative workflows in and out of the classroom with students. Correcting student work and providing feedback becomes almost second nature when you realize how streamlined it is. It also encourages students to share their work rather than submit it, using a more antiquated process. As far as students are concerned, being able to work on group assignments on the same document at the same time is instrumental in creating a digital collaborative space. Aside from that, these types of tools transfer well in a hybrid environment. Even being able to bring up the actual document currently being worked and presenting it in a classroom setting becomes easy and essential.

Grammarly

A set of programs and browser extensions that provide a more thorough grammar and spelling checker than what is typical with regular web browsers.

This tool does provide more guidelines than a standard grammar editor. It allows students to learn foundational principles in practicing writing.

This tool does allow students to develop analytical skills with their own writing.

This tool should also allow students to review and revise ideas and concepts from previous writing instruction.

Students should be able to gain a more vested interest in improving their own writing while having this tool on.

This a modern tool that helps students to edit and correct their wring in web pages. It is extremely effective for discussion boards.

Desktop applications and extensions for desktop browsers

Once you install the browser extension, it should start working with Blackboard when writing directly within editor. Grammarly does not seem to work with the online Google Suite, however.

A perfect example of this is a student posting directly to the discussion board or responding to a fellow student in a chat room. The student cannot only correct grammatical mistakes in their own writing, but also learn why they have made the mistake in the first place.

The site allows students to apply critical thinking skills when solving problems.
