In recognition of President Rosenberg's call to advance the "life of the mind" at FIU, the Workshop Series supports ongoing reflection and exchange about faculty efforts to implement contemplative practices into their teaching and scholarship.

As part of CAT's Contemplative Practices in Education initiative, and in collaboration with the Office to Advance Women, Equity & Diversity, we are pleased to invite you to a virtual workshop facilitated by Rhonda V. Magee, Professor of Law at the University of San Francisco and author of The Inner Work of Racial Justice: Healing Ourselves and Transforming Our Communities through Mindfulness, on cultivating and sustaining inclusive and equitable learning environments.

Workshop Description

How might we foster classroom-based learning communities with the strength to deal with race-based crises and controversies as they arise? In this workshop, Professor Magee will guide us in exploring how to create and sustain inclusive antiracist and resilient learning communities in the 21st century. She'll share some of the research-based contemplative teaching and learning practices that have been shown to help create resilient spaces for intellectual and inner life development on college campuses.
