Bio

Ileana Hernandez is the Assistant Director for Assessment, Evaluation, and Development at CAT and an adjunct for the Department of Psychology. She earned her Ph.D. in developmental psychology from FIU, is a licensed psychotherapist, and a Certified Mindfulness Teacher trained with UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior.  She leads the Contemplative Practices in Education initiative, the assessment and evaluation of the Center's programming and practices, and the teaching assistant development program. She facilitates workshops, course design institutes, reading groups, and Mindful Mondays for graduate students and faculty, and assists with university-wide initiatives. In her free time, you can find her reading non-fiction, practicing mindfulness meditation, traveling, listening to music, advocating for human and animal rights, and spending quality time with friends and family (which includes her fur child Chance).
